Alma Bucciali

Alsatian visual artist Alma Bucciali is the guest artist at ST-ART 2023. For the occasion, she has signed two exclusive prints to accompany the exhibition catalogue.

"The two prints created especially for ST-ART are part of a series of engravings inspired by La Belle Strasbourgeoise painted by Nicolas de Largillierre in 1703, one of the major works in the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Strasbourg. Taking up the spirit and composition of the original portrait, I offer a contemporary vision of Strasbourg women. As in the eighteenth century, they wear a pearl necklace and their bichon on their arm, accessories from their costumes remain or are evoked, while the trees in the background are more or less the same," she explains.
