Description
GLORIÆ Gallery, the first independent gallery in Craiova, Romania, opened in May 2024 as a space dedicated to promoting contemporary art and supporting both local and national artists.
Within its first year, it presented three major exhibitions curated by Ruxandra Demetrescu: an inaugural project dedicated to Vincenzo Bianchi, "Visuality and Materiality: Three Configurations of Images" featuring Sorin, Adrian and Nicu Ilfoveanu, and "Feminine Archaeologies" with Marilena Preda-Sânc, Aurora Király, Elena Scutaru and Roxana Trestioreanu. This enduring curatorial collaboration later continued with Petru Lucaci's solo exhibition "Sortir du Noir" and "Anomalie", a prominent solo show dedicated to the Franco-Romanian conceptual artist Wanda Mihuleac.
The gallery's dynamic program also expanded to include the project "Only I can be herenow". Extending its interdisciplinary dialogue, GLORIÆ Gallery partnered with the CONNECT Contemporary Dance Festival for two consecutive years, hosting its itinerant visual art exhibitions, including the recent "Soft Geographies" project.
In 2024 and 2025 it joined the White Night of the Art Galleries, and in 2025 and 2026 it participated in RAD Art Fair, furthering its mission to reposition Craiova on the national cultural map.
