St-art Highlight
St-art 12 continues on the path to quality
St-art, the European Fair of Contemporary Art in Strasbourg has ended on a highly positive note in terms of attendance, business and quality.
A fair that confirms its identity as a European Fair
This year's event placed the spotlight on Benelux and Spain with 10 and 9 galleries respectively.
They were very well received by the general public.
With 12 European and 2 Asian countries, St-art remains one of the most European fairs in scope, with 40% of galleries coming from abroad.
A fair of discovery
Under the heading "New Profile", St-art brought together galleries presenting emerging artists at very accessible prices. This initiative will be pursued further in view of the public enthusiasm and interest it generated.
The City of Strasbourg upholds St-art
The City and museums of Strasbourg pursued their policy of purchasing artworks to show their support for the event.
Companies invest in St-art
Within the framework of the law on patronage, a number of companies (Neurex, Strasbourg Evénements etc.) purchased artworks from the galleries.
A fair where quality is ever more the keynote
Both the public and professionals unanimously acknowledged the quality of the artworks presented and particularly appreciated the various One Man Shows.
Loyal visitors
The number of visitors was stable at around 28,000.
A dynamic market
Business progresses every year with sales more evenly proportioned for all the galleries.
A greatly appreciated fair
The alternative events were massively attended by the visitors – for example the German expressionists, Georges Rousse, the glass artists presented by ESGAA and the illustrators presented by the City of Strasbourg.
Strasbourg Evénements has officially announced that it will organise the new "Lille European Art Fair", in co-production with Lille Grand Palais, which will take place from 25th to 28th April 2008.
