It was only natural to invite Olivier Kaeppelin to focus his attention on the fair. Olivier Kaeppelin taught at Paris 8 University and then at Paris I University, from 1974 to 1986, and he also worked at the School of Fine Arts of Nantes from 1980 to 1983.
He joined the Visual Arts Department of the French Culture Ministry, where he successively held the positions of Special Advisor from 1986 to 1987, Artistic Education Inspector from 1987 to 1990 and Artistic Creation Inspector from 1990 to 1993, after which he took over its management from 1993 to 1999.
After producing the “Nuits Magnétiques”, he joined the France Culture radio station in 1999 as Assistant Director for Programming, before becoming Advisor to the President at Radio France, for the development of the group’s cultural policy. In 2004, he was named Representative for the Visual Arts at the Ministry of Culture and Communication and then, from 2009 to 2011, he was Project Manager at the Palais de Tokyo modern and contemporary art facility, before taking over the management of the Maeght Foundation.
Olivier Kaeppelin has also been the curator of several exhibitions and events, in particular on young French artists. Furthermore, he initiated the Monumenta and La Force de l’Art triennial. He has written many texts and works on contemporary creation.
